I cannot believe Uriel is gone. He was my youngest at 16. He was a beautiful lutino cockatiel. He was sassy, smart, bossy, loving, so spunky. BUt tonight, tragically, I stepped on him, and even though I rushed him to the emergency vet, he didn't survive. He's never on the floor in the bird room. Ever. He was in the living room, and I was cleaning Rico's cage, and Uriel must have come in while my back was turned, and when I stepped away from Rico's cage to turn and go rinse a rag, I stepped on my little one, hard. He tried to fly but couldn't. He was in shock. He bit me when I picked him up. His breathing was so ragged. He let me hold him, gently put him in a carrier cage, and take him to the emergency vet. They put him on oxygen right away, but could not do anything else, as his breathing was so troubled. THey kept him warm, and on the oxygen, but the shock and the fright was too much they say.
I raised him from the egg. He was my youngest, my baby. Here is his picture, he in the middle, between Riley and Rainbow, his foster parents, who helped me keep him fed and warm.
He will be cremated, and his ashes put in a communal flower garden, with respect, and love.
His very first takeoff on his first flight.Riley feeding him Uriel all grown. all grown.I know it was an accident. I didn't mean to hurt my little one. But it doesn't make it any easier knowing I am the reason he's not here any more. I will miss this little guy, forever.

I am so sorry this happened, and I know you must feel terrible about this.
